Mezuzah: The Word of Yahweh is Our Gatekeeper
Updated: Mar 16
Many say this command is simply a "reminder," but it was not speaking about a literal "mezuzah." Besides, we already have tzitzits as physical reminders.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuderonomy 6:8-9 ESV
The command is to figuratively put the Word on the "doorposts" of their heart. I think this is what Yeshua was referring to in this passage:
The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. John 10:3 ESV
The gatekeeper's job is super important. Only he decides who--and what--comes in or goes out. The Holy Spirit is our "filter," our gatekeeper, measuring everything by the Word. He always opens the door for Yeshua to enter.
Proverbs puts it like this: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding," (Proverbs 3:5 ESV).
With God's Word at the door of your heart and home, trust Him to keep the enemy out and let Yeshua in.
Thank you Yeshua for giving us Your Holy Spirit! Put Your Word as the gatekeeper of my heart, showing me what is evil and what is good. I want to always recognize and follow Your voice when You lead me.
